Cincinnati Veterinary Hospital Spreads Facebook Cheer with Quarantine Contest

Grady Veterinary Hospital, a 24-hour emergency animal hospital in Cincinnati, has an active and engaged Facebook following of over 15,000 locals. I’m in charge of their marketing outreach, and photo contests are one of our most popular marketing campaign types.

Here’s how we structured our latest Quarantine Photo Contest on Facebook:

“Announcing our Quarantine Contest! Post a picture in the comments to show how your pets react to the humans being home so much. Do they love it, or do they need their space? Please only post one picture per pet (or one picture with multiple pets). Contest closes to new entries Sunday night. Voting starts Monday, May 18th. The pet with the most likes on their photo will win a Visa Gift Card!”

Small Business Marketing Tip: Customers Love Photo Contests

Over a weekend period, we received 112 entries for the contest, complete with charming stories of how pets and people are getting along during COVID-19 stay-at-home measures. This content is highly-engaging for our audience, and well worth the expense of a Visa Gift Card prize.

For the voting period, we create an album of the photo entries. Each reaction is one vote. The current first-place photo has 66 votes, with 24 hours left in the voting period.

When voting is over, we announce the winner and ask the pet owner to send us a private message with their street address.

Customers love photo contests because they are easy to enter, fun to share with their friends and give the thrill of competition. Take some inspiration from Grady Vet and bring a fun, relevant contest to your audience.
